As Thanksgiving is behind us (as is the election) I find that I have a lot to be thankful for this year. With the recent wins in 8 of the 9 states where the proposed legalization passed, we can take a minute to high 5 each other for a job well done, and another hurdle scaled. But there is always more to be done. For example, have you heard of the Rohrabacher-Farr Amendment? This is an amendment that “bans the Dept. of Justice from spending money to prevent the implementation of state-level Medical Marijuana programs, in addition to removing funding for federal Medical Marijuana raids, arrests and prosecutions in states where these programs are legal.” NCIA In other words, it’s protecting the Medical Marijuana industry. What you should know is that this amendment needs to be reauthorized every year to stay effective. Currently this bill is protected through December 9th, but to stay protected, Congress will have to pass a funding bill for future government spending and this vote will happen this December.
I’m asking you, please take 10 minutes out of your day to do something worthwhile in the fight for legalization and make one phone call.
